The Grade Threes have been working on three necessary skills to produce a beautiful tone: tonguing (using the sound "too" for each note), fingering (for notes B-A-G) and fingering positions (using flat fingers to cover the holes).
Below is the criteria to be used to assess their skill development: (Grade Three/PT2/PT3) Tone Plays with a gentle, beautiful tone Tonguing Starts the note with “doo” or “too” Fingering Uses correct fingering Finger Positions Covers holes completely, uses finger-pads Rhythms Plays rhythms accurately Fluency Plays complete example on the first attempt Practice Skills Uses preparation time effectively (rhythm homework/practice sheets) Off-staff melodies, such as "Hot Cross Buns", will also be used to develop fingering/technique.
